Wikis are great Web 2.0 tools for working together, collaborating and constructing new knowledge. For this activity on standards and to become familiar with using a wiki, we will each contribute to this chart about Standards and 21st Century Learning. As people add their thoughts and information you can see how wikis can be a powerful place for students in your class, in your school, in our district and globally to collaborate on projects.
For this activity, review the NETS-T National Technology Standards and the information from the Partnership for 21st Century Learning. Choose a technology standard at the objective level, align it with a 21st century skill and name a technology you have used or might want to try to help support the standard.

1c promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students' conceptual understanding and thinking-planning, and creative processes
The ability to create innovatively, to communicate and collaborate with others, to be involved in decision making, and to become technology operators
The class will use a wiki to list the main topics of a chapter. Teams of students will use google docs to develop questions for use as a chapter review. The team members will also determine point value assigned for each question. Questions are then projected onto a smartboard in a Jeopardy format where students will use clickers to enter responses. Finally students will use voice thread to reflect about their learning experiences

2d. provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology standards and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching
The ability to problem solve and think critically. And become technology operators.
Using my classroom set of I-Pod Touches i will use the application E-Clicker and download my test right onto their I-Pods. They will take their tests and it will provide instant feedback and if I so choose allow them also to make corrections that time.
Genna/Focus Learning Academy
2b. develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress.
When students can think critically both independently and socially, problem solve, and play an active role in the decision-making process.
My classroom has a moodle site in which they can see their assignments, collaborate with peers, and communicate with me. It is an effective tool because it eliminates the excuse that they didn't know what the assignment was. It is all laid out for them in an organized fashion. It is neat because it allows for online collaboration and communication in addition to face-to-face time in the classroom.

3a. allocate time, resources, and access to ensure ongoing professional growth in technology fluency and integration
when my staff is able to go to proffessional development and take part in the continuous learning process, then that means they are able to pass that learnig onto the students
Our classrooms have a lot of new technology and some new teachers to the building this year. As an administrator I will ensure I give these teachers time to collaborate with one another and time to attended professional development to become familiar with the new technology they have at to use

4. Technology Communication Tools Students use telecommunication to collaborate, publish, interact with peers, experts, and other audiences.
Social and Cross Cultural Skills: students working appropriately and productively with others Productivity and Accountability
Demonstrate Diligience and a positive work ethic
In an effort to prepare for our next short story in English, we used "cell phones" to call outside the school environment to resources that might help us understand the setting for our story, Big Joe's Funeral. Students called relatives, family, parents. They also obtained a list of experts in Harlem to call. They texted for information as well. Students learned through this exercise that Bill Clinton has an office in Harlem....and they were ready to understand the setting and read. It created motivation, great collaboration among students, and a positive work ethic. They were also aware at the end of the lesson the cell phone got put away until school was out!

2c customize and personalize learning activities to address students' diverse learning styles, working strategies and abilities using digital tools and resources
Use digital technologies (computers, PDAs, media players, GPS, etc.), communication/networking tools and social networks appropriately to access, manage, integrate, evaluate and create information to successfully function in a knowledge economy
Teachers can post directions and recordings on voicethread or as a media player for students to access via Wikki. Students then have the freedom to work at their own pace. They can get one on one feedback from the teacher through these technologies and can work as slow or as quick as is needed. I sometimes use media recordings with my students to explain book work or tests that need corrected. That way students can watch an explination of only the question they need to review and can pause, play, and rewind as needed.

3a. allocate time, resources, and access to ensure ongoing professional growth in technology fluency and integration
I try to find in house professional development opportunities for my teachers to build on the strengths that they have. I collaborate with my technology directors and building experts to find resources, ideas, and development opportunities. I encourage my staff to experiment with new ideas and technologies.
Technology Tools that could help:
E-mail and wikis would be a great resource to find and share information on what professional development is available and practical.

3C - Communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital-age media and formats
the ability to think critically, problem solve, create, innovate, communicate and collaborate
In the past I have used online threaded discussions to debate a literary character debate over a moral decision they must make. In doing this, I model posting etiquette, referencing, and some critical thinking. It would be interesting to set up a "booth" where students could do voicethreads to give their opinions.

1C - promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative process.
Debate the positive and negative outcomes of technology transfer (e.g., given a selected region or country, what types of appropriate technology best meet the needs of the people?).
Technology that I have used in the classroom that has helped with this is poll everywhere. It gives the students the ability to see what others in their classroom are thinking without actually having to say it in class but at the same time it is a way for them and I to assess their knowledge in a government setting.
An example of this would be in poll everywhere - What are you opinions of using technology in polling centers to help speed up the count for elections. Then students use their cell phones to text their answer into poll everywhere for it to be posted on my classroom board.
Tim Murray/Fostoria
2A - ensure instructional innovation focused on continuous improvement of digital-age learning.
Allow teachers the freedom to try new techniques incorporating techonolgy that creates meaningful instruction and learning.
Cell Phone lingo to teach an english lesson, use iPod touches to communicate with other areas of the country or possibly world wide, utilize wiki pages for discussions about topics, utilize video conferencing.

3C. communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents,& peers using a variety of digital-age media formats
Weekly I write a "Friday Focus"which is a building-wide newsletters created on "Micorsoft-Publisher" and distributed to the entire staff electronically. It is an opportunity for me to communicate necessary informationthat would otherwise typed and handed out to staff. I have also scanned Teacher Evaluation forms that were PDF's and saved them to "Word" so I could complete the evaluation on the computer. I have shared these files with other adminstrators who were grateful to be able to type out the form instead of having to hand write all the evaluations
